Abstract | NCAP-1 is a reference material (RM) designed for improving accuracy of SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid (N) protein measurements, as well as an antigen source for use in SARS-CoV-2 immunological assays. Many commercially available SARS-CoV-2 test kits exploit the interaction between the SARS-CoV-2 N-protein and human anti-N antibodies. Reference values for the molar concentration, mass fraction, and mass concentration of SARS-CoV-2 N-protein in NCAP-1 have been established. Information values for the size heterogeneity of SARS-CoV-2 N-protein in NCAP-1 are provided. A unit of NCAP-1 contains 0.4 mL of SARS-CoV-2 N-protein in 50 mM Tris buffer, pH 8, with 150 mM sodium chloride. |
