| Résumé | In this note calculations are made of the probability of positioning interceptors of different performance so that successful missile firings can be made against bombers of subsonic and supersonic performance. It is concluded that effectiveness is greatly decreased if the interceptor suffers a speed disadvantage relative to the bomber, but that it is not greatly increased by a speed advantage, that a subsonic interceptor can be as effective as a Mach number two interceptor against a Type 37 bomber, and that the effectiveness of a supersonic interceptor is insensitive to differences in performance estimates. |
